Gallo has been trying for fifteen years to become a serious restaurant. Thanks to good social contacts, during the visit of President Bush to Zagreb in 2008 they managed to host Laura Bush for lunch. But in terms of its gastronomic offerings, Gallo is hopelessly mediocre. They sometimes manage to cook some good fresh fish, but often they prepare frozen fish. They boast having handmade spaghetti but mostly they do not know how to cook pasta — not to mention the risotto. Gallo has a virtual wine list, as the wines listed do not correspond to the actual selection of wines available. This is all such a shame for Gallo because the restaurant is located in one of the most attractive courtyards in the city.
