Academia in Blue Sun hotel, is a totally unusual restaurant for Zagorje. Its first chef Tomislav Kožić was trained in France and is a master of classic and contemporary culinary techniques. A few years ago Kožić tried to make Academia a place with a modern approach to local cuisine, while his successors – judging by the current menu – have moved towards international hotel cuisine with a strong individual creative touch. The menu now features lardo de Collonata, steak tartare, and even Caesar salad, all typical Zagorje dishes, as well as homemade sausages with sage and white wine, Zagorje pork cracklings with duck liver, and pork belly with apple. The interior of the restaurant is not cheap, but it is somewhat depressing, impersonal and rather inappropriate for the landscapes and atmosphere of Zagorje.
