This place is neither a restaurant nor a tavern, but rather an expanded family kitchen. So that is exactly how you will be served and that is how you will eat. The already legendary Čok, a nickname of the owner Sergio Jugovac, will first listen to what you have to say, then present his opinions on the matter. The base is always the same, regardless of season: fish, crabs, molluscs and vegetables are magnificent, locally-sourced and always fresh. Čok’s son Viljan’s cooking is minimalistic because in Čok, original flavours of ingredients are sacred. The tuna tartare is bursting with flavour and natural sweetness, the octopus with broad beans and chickpea cream is a perfect combination of the sea and the land, while the marinated shrimp with black truffles is a masterful dish based on the Istrian “mare-monte” style. And you cannot leave this family-dining establishment without first trying the wonderful deserts prepared by his wife Vilma.
