A place made for pleasure. Superb sophistication and luxury in almost surreal laid back atmosphere. Inspiring menus are always based on season and local terroir. Cooking is elaborated and thoughtful. Educated sommelier will take you through more than 200 wines on the list. San Rocco makes its own brand of olive oil. It’s fascinating how they combine local ingredients researching for new dishes: polenta, scampi and saffron; ravioli, chestnut cream and white truffle; wild sea bass, pumpkin and beetroot. Not that every dish is brilliant from the moment they put it on the menu, some are perfected with time, some are removed. But with a few of their best-of dishes such as potato veloute on cuttlefish with black truffle, or pork flam with almonds and pistachio in wild asparagus sauce, San Rocco can calmly wait for his first Michelin inspectors.
