Everybody can find their place here. This sentence perhaps best describes the gastronomic orientation of Stari grad 02. It is a restaurant with a tradition established by the legendary Karlo Nizetić by opening the first Stari grad way back in 1966. The tradition was continued by Karlo’s son Edo, who, together with his hard-working partner Ada, runs the current Stari grad – in which their son Mateo, trained in hospitality, plays an increasingly important role. This is a rather general restaurant. In one day you can come across the heads of the Uljanik shipyard celebrating a new shipbuilding deal, local officials at lunch with officials from sister cities, as well as footballers from FC Istria stocking up on calories after an arduous training session, young couples eating ‘out’, or an Italian family who has come to enjoy raw scampi, linguini with scallops, scorpion fish al forno, and Ada’s custard pie and baklava.
