The most successful Croatian independent hamburger chain has begun to spread overseas. Submarine’s great concept consists of a live-fire grill, a well-designed space and menu, high energy and a decent selection of local craft beers. The problem is their very bad hamburgers. The meat is rubbery, tasteless, and it seems like it was frozen a long time ago. The exceptions are the sliders; while the desserts are acceptable. The buns are excellent but the fries are amateurish. Submarine is a place to come for a drink and enjoy the atmosphere without paying much attention to the food.
