Takenoko opened in 2004. as the first Japanese restaurant in Croatia. A city hot spot from day one, the restaurant moved this spring from Kaptol Centar to the centre of Zagreb in Gundulićeva street, undergoing huge transformation. Takenoko completely changed its image and is now the best designed restaurant in the city. Besides looking amazing, Takenoko improved the menu adding some new sushis such as sea urchin, very god toro and solid robata dishes (a type of Japanese barbecue). There are also some new entries on the fusion menu, dumplings filled with pork and ginger among others. Only huge windows separate Takenoko from one of the main streets of Zagreb, so to sit there, order a good sushi, sipping something from their nice wine list and watching the city moving, is just irresistible, for lunch and dinner alike.
