Zimska luka (meaning winter port) is a hotel restaurant with a view of Danube river flowing through city of Osijek. Seamingly typical hotel restaurant is in fact a place of sound cooking. Worth tasting are local dishes such as carp perkelt and zander fillet, but they also make some very good conventional dishes like veal shank with blue cabbage, steaks or veal soup with oyster mushrooms in season. For a sure bet, there is a constant selection of Slavonian charcouterie and meat specialties, from kulen to cottage cheese spiced with powdered hot red peppers.
