Badel 1862. owns one large, and one very small winery in Dalmatia. The large winery is in Benkovac, where they produce excellent Korlat wines. The Korlat vineyards were planted about 15 years ago, in what was probably the most audatious feat in history of Croatian wine industry. They had to break and grind stone for years to get few feet of soil for planting vines, but it was first-class soil and Korlat is now one of the best positions in all of Croatia. In Korlat vineyards Badel grows Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. Korlat wines regularly win international championships and they are an excellent value for money. The Badel’s small winery is on the island of Hvar. There they make Ivan Dolac, an excellent Plavac and from Pelješac comes their very modern Dingač.
