Branimir Cebalo makes an authoritative, oily and very aromatic Grk for the last 20 years. This indigenous variety is best grown on a sandy soil. In Korčula it is traditionaly planted with Plavac Mali, necessary for pollination of asexual Grk vines. Smaller, unpollinated grapes are the ones that give Grk its famous fine bitternes and freshness of high acidity. After phylloxera ravaged Europe’s vineyards in 19th and 20th century, Grk survived only on its original ground of sandy soils of Lumbarda. That is why Grk from Lumbarda preserved its original tastes and aromas.
